Bakery Manager
Location: Goodman’s Fine Foods- 185 Main St, Newmarket
Permanent full-time position- Evening and weekend availability required
(Opening shift start at 5:00am/Closing shift ends at 6:30pm* times may change to suit the business)
We currently run a 4 day/week, 10 hour/day schedule.

We are a scratch bakery and our Bakery Manager will be an essential role in ensuring the success of our business. We are looking for someone experienced who is used to running a team of Bakers and Chefs. This person will play a key leadership role working with our Head Chef/Owner. We are looking for a multitasker with impeccable attention to detail. Making delicious creations is what we do, this individual will need to bring our team together, ensure quality control and product presentation.
Responsibilities
- Bakery Manager responsibilities include supervising bakery staff with a keen eye and focus on consistent quality control.
- Production management, including managing prep lists + inventory needs, demands and changes in menu.
- Communication is key! We are looking for a strong communicator who is comfortable in a kitchen and fast-paced environment.
- Product presentation: Our bakery items need to be delicious but also beautiful. This includes the products themselves as well as how they are displayed.
- Coordinate with kitchen team lead around production schedule, staff schedule, weekly and daily prep lists, ingredient inventory and supply ordering.
- Bakery analysis. This will include a focus on product performance, growing sales, profitability, and staffing requirements.
- Training and feedback: strong leadership skills to ensure staff monitoring and give ongoing feedback. Continued education and training that will benefit the whole team. This may include customer feedback and performance.
- Collaborate with upper management to coordinate new product launches and seasonal menu changes.
- Control costs and minimize waste. Adapt and change procedures to maximize efficiencies and returns on investment.
- Clean and safe environment is a must. This individual will be responsible for ensuring our cleaning standards are being met and that we are complying with Health & Safety requirements.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years experience managing a bakery
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Baker or Pastry Chef
- Food Handler’s Certificate
