Categories

Competition Format

  • Submission Deadline: Email your ideas by September 4th.
  • Selection Announcement: The top 3 finalists for each category will be notified by September 10th.
  • Presentation Date:  Finalists will present their ideas in person or online on September 18th at Island City Frozen Dough Division.

Presentation Details

  • Time Allotment: 5 minutes to set up, 15 minutes to present your idea.
  • Judging Criteria: Costing, marketing, overall quality, functionality, scalability, packaging, and more.
  • Order: Presentations will be conducted randomly, and contestants may stay to watch other presentations.

Judging & Prizes

  • Judges: A panel of 3 experienced judges from the industry.
  • Q&A Session: After all presentations, judges may ask additional questions before deciding the winners. 

Independent Bakeries

Prizes

  • 1st Place: $5,000 (in education/training)
  • 2nd Place $2,500 (in education/training value)
  • 3rd Place: $1,000 (in education/training value)
  • Additional Prizes:
    • 1 hour with board members as mentors.
    • 1 year free BAC membership for all finalists.
    • Access to specialized courses like chocolatier, marzipan, and bread baking.

Eligibility

  • Bakery located in Western Canada.
  • Must present a detailed plan on how the prize will be used.
  • No BAC Membership needed to compete.

Students

Prizes

  • Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Eligibility

  • Must be a full-time student pursuing a career in the Canadian Baking industry.
  • Active participation in BAC activities.
  • Must present a detailed plan on how the prize will support their career goals.
  • No BAC Membership needed to compete.

Additional Information

  • Photography & Videography: Event will be documented for inclusion in the Bakery Journal.
  • Refreshments: Provided at no charge.

Potential Opportunity

Winners may compete nationally at the Bakery Showcase with other BAC chapter winners.
