Baker & Assistant Decorator

Hours of work: Tuesday to Saturday; 8:00am-4:30pm; occasional work on Mondays
Hourly Wage: $19/hour
Reports to: Kitchen Manager
As a Baker and Assistant Decorator at Ooh La La Cupcakes, you will play a key role on our small team preparing high quality, creative and delicious cupcakes and cakes for our customers.
What Your Role Looks Like
• Be responsible for reviewing production schedules, following recipes, accurately measuring and mixing ingredients, and baking each item to perfection
• When required, decorate our signature cupcakes and cakes, and add creative magic to custom orders
• Ensure each product leaving the kitchen meets our high standards of freshness and appearance
• Participate in creating new feature cupcakes and product ideas
• Work alongside your team to keep your station and the bakery clean, including cleaning of counters, equipment, floors and filling/emptying the dishwasher
Why You’re a Great Fit
• You have your Level 1 Food Safe certification (or commitment to getting it within the first month of employment)
• You have a minimum of 1 year baking experience; decorating experience is an asset
• You can work independently or as part of a small team
• You take pride in your work and are committed to producing high quality results
• You have a positive can-do attitude and good organizational skills
• You are punctual and good at managing your time
• You have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
• Continuous standing/walking for all tasks
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 kg (48lbs)
• Frequent turning and reaching
• Occasional pushing, pulling and some forward bending
• Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping
• Able to work in a warm kitchen environment
